Change of pace

This has been an excellent week away from work. The company sent us to a short course at Pax River, where we learned the basis of helicopter flight-testing. The course was taught at the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School and was attended by a mixture of hot-shot military test pilots and back-seat flight test engineers (and us). Our purpose was to write down numbers, but we were allowed to fly the helicopter a bit, even hover. I managed not to hit anything, which was good. Bottom line for the week: helicopters and test-pilot stories are both very interesting.

Stay tuned for next week, when I build a terraced garden in our backyard. Rachel has agreed to grow the vegetables if I build the garden. The dogs have agreed to dig it up and plant some bones.

In MD

This doesn’t count as a post, but I should probably mention that I will be in Maryland all week. I’ll be down at Patuxent River through Friday the 31st, and I will be mostly free that weekend (returning Monday).

Excellent! If you happen to be in Fredneck on Saturday night, check out the Gallery Walk–my dance company will be shaking our collective groove thing from 5-9pm at the Cultural Arts Center on Market Street, with the doors wide open!
