All dog, all the time

In continuing with this blog’s 24-hour dog coverage, I present several new photos of Indiana Jones. Regularly scheduled programming will continue when I get back from Coventry.

I have to hate you for being in Coventry. But I love your dog!

  2. Comment from Glen on 1 Sep. 2005, 3:05 am :

Coventry consists of about 34000 traffic circles, all with four lanes entering and chaos in the middle. I owe my survival to the universal assumption that all drivers are about to dart across several lanes of traffic without warning. There’s no way to reach your destination otherwise.

Tell us news of Maggie in Nola!

  4. Comment from Glen on 2 Sep. 2005, 3:41 pm :

She’s not in Nola, thankfully. Last I heard, she was living on a farm in Louisiana, and the courthouse activities had been moved to Alabama or Kentucky or some other southern state.

  5. Comment from Maggie on 2 Sep. 2005, 3:57 pm :

Kentucky is not the south. It’s somewhat more like West Virginia. :-P Our judge has moved to Lafayette, LA, which is where I am now. This is good for him, as his wife has a house. It is bad for those of us that work for him, as there is literally nowhere to live. Everything’s been rented, bought, or lent. We’re not really sure what’s going to happen. Right now the three of us that are in town are staying with the mother of one of the clerk’s college friends, but it’s a temporary fix at best. It’s stressful here right now, but I have a job, and my car, and the really important stuff that I crammed in the back of said car, and I’ll start from there. Good thoughts never hurt, though :)

I have to say, I love the picture of you and Indy driving. Classic.

Leave my sister alone!

A cat story, by popular demand (although, Indy is featured in it too). This evening, Indy was in his super-hyper evening mode as usual. Lili walked onto a chair, trying to sneak to her food, but was spotted by Indiana. He came forward, she hissed. He took this as an invitation to play, he came forward some more. Out of nowhere, Otto puffs up, hisses, and advances on Indy. Before you know it, Otto is chasing Indy into the living room and a yelp is heard. Otto continues chasing Indy until Glen and Rachel are up and about observing and subtly separating the animals. It was quite the sight - I’ve never ever seen a cat be protective of another cat before.

  1. Comment from Katie on 12 Aug. 2005, 4:06 pm :

That is a great story! Too bad you didn’t have a video camera so you could send it to America’s Funniest Animals.

  2. Comment from MIL on 14 Aug. 2005, 9:07 am :

Thank you! I feel better now that I know the cats are getting some kind of attention, even if it is negative!

  3. Comment from Rachel on 14 Aug. 2005, 10:36 am :

The cats are getting plenty of attention - not all of it negative dog attention. We’re making a special effort to make sure they don’t feel neglected.

Best Car Trip Ever

Today Indy got his first taste of the dog park - and we think he’s hooked. 95% of the dogs at the park were huge German Shepherds, so Glen had less of a fun time worrying about Indy, the smallest dog there. Indiana had a grand ol’ time there though, chasing the 4 biggest dogs in the park. We’ll be looking into that yearly membership tomorrow. If only we had some video of him running with those huge dogs - it sure was a sight to see.

  1. Comment from MIL on 9 Aug. 2005, 7:24 pm :

While I’m sure my grand puppy is wildly entertaining, I’m sort of missing hearing about my grand kitties. What up with them???

  2. Comment from Glen on 9 Aug. 2005, 7:47 pm :

They are busy being skeptical of the dog.

Update du chien

There are new Indiana Jones photos in the Album. He is doing well, except for the ongoing peeing-in-house situation. Today was our first real effort to housetrain the dog, and it seemed to go well. Now that we’ve scolded him for peeing on the Xbox and laundry basket, he gets all antsy before lifting his leg and gives us ample time to rush him outside. He appears to be intelligent, having learned his name in 2 days and nearly mastered the concept of sitting (although he now sits automatically when we get out a treat). Very friendly, too. Last month I was on the fence about getting a new pet, but now I realize how much I’ve missed having a dog for the past 8 years.

  1. Comment from Tammy on 5 Aug. 2005, 7:44 am :

He is SO cute. I love his bottom teeth!

  2. Comment from Glen on 5 Aug. 2005, 6:19 pm :

Yes, his teeth have a tendency to stick out. But he’s friendlier than a show dog, I say.

  3. Comment from Tammy on 8 Aug. 2005, 1:59 pm :

He’s a million times better than a show dog in all respects!

  4. Comment from Glen on 8 Aug. 2005, 2:25 pm :

When are you going to come meet him?

  5. Comment from Tammy on 8 Aug. 2005, 2:38 pm :

This fall! We can take Indiana Jones to a pumpkin patch.
