Cat and Dog

I’ve got nothing, so here’s a cat update.

This weekend is technically our first anniversary, but we came to Maryland for other reasons: Evelyn and Josh celebrated their zeroth anniversary. Congratulations, Evelyn and Josh!
As part of our pre-anniversary celebration, we ate year-old wedding cake. It tasted like freezer but did not give us food poisoning. Next weekend, we will head to Chicago and light our unity candle as an anniverary tradition. I plan to monitor the wax consumption rate to ensure that we don’t lose our unity when we’re 42.
In other excitement, we flew out of O’Hare’s Terminal L for the first time, ever. Our flight departed from Gate L8 and was, appropriately, late.
Happy anniversary from New Mexico!

I cannot believe you did that! No, wait…. I can. Good work!

Lili’s the cuter, and a whole lot softer.

uhh… is that tigger? aren’t tiggers cats? or do i need to go back to pre-school?
Comment from Rachel on 27 Oct. 2004, 7:43 am :
That’s not Tigger! It’s a statue of my dog Howie that my sister made for me

I have a cat update. Olivia has a bladder infection, which I’ve treated for the last week with children’s bubble-gum flavored amoxicillin. She’s also on a new diet so she can lose a few pounds. She refuses to tinkle for the vet, and she’s too chubby to squeeze for tinkle, so I had to take her home last night with a special tinkle-collecting litter box, and lock her in the utility room with the box until she relieved herself. She managed to upset the box during the night. Heaven help me.

Aaah… I stand corrected. Howie’s cute either way.

I was considering until 30 seconds ago (before reading Em’s post) getting a cat. Now, I’m somehow not…
Comment from Rachel on 28 Oct. 2004, 9:11 am :
You should get a cat! Otto and Lili have never had any bladder infections - it doesn’t happen with every cat! And they’re so sweet and lovable and make up for all of the unpleasantness of bladder-infection related clean-up.

I would recommend getting a model that doesn’t wake you up at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday by batting at your face and licking your hair. Fortuantely, ours are still under warranty, so we may trade them in for reburbished units.
Comment from Em on 29 Oct. 2004, 8:34 am :
Angela, you should still definitely get a cat! The unconditional love more than makes up for the tinkling (or lack thereof). Actually, you should get two cats–they are social creatures!
Comment from Angela on 29 Oct. 2004, 12:01 pm :
You people are v. convincing. I want two of these! (see link) But I object to paying $900 or any amount of money, really, for pets.
Comment from Glen on 29 Oct. 2004, 4:45 pm :
No no no! You must obtain your cat(s) from an animal shelter or rescue society. There’s no need to lay down $900. The pound might charge $50 or so, but that money feeds all of the other poor animals that you did not adopt.

Did you not read my objections to paying money for pets? I won’t be getting $900 kittens but I was just saying they’re cute.
